Showdown Etiquette
In live poker online games at casinos, the dealer has to mediate all the action around thecasino table. When a hand comes to a showdown, the moment can be tense and often players jump the gun or behave inappropriately. Here are few things to remember at or just before the showdown. If you decide to fold your cards at the river while others still have cards in play, do not show your cards. Toss them face down into the muck. No matter how frustrated you may feel because you’re folding a big hand, like pocket Kings, on the river, do no reveal your cards when others are still betting. When the play has come to a showdown at the river, then be gracious about it and turn your poker cards over for the dealer to see. Don’t engage in slow rolling – prolonging the drama of the moment by taking too much time to reveal the cards. The seconds ticking away will not change your cards, so just show them and move on to the next hand. Don’t interfere with the dealer’s duties to announce the winner and award the pot. Let dealers do their jobs. If there is a side pot, don’t instruct the dealer how to divide it up. Dealers are trained how to do this and it only confuses things when players start jumping in to give orders. The dealer is in charge of the table, so let the dealer sort things out.
