Sensitive To a Woman's Search for her Natural Hair
Me and my family couldn’t believe the radiant Belinda Sinclair, my high school BFF, would need a collection of medical wigs. Her signature hair and fashion flowed in sync with her attitude. Get this. The woman is still known for her attitude. Not many in town think to notice that she dons lace front wigs. Guess it’s no secret anymore.
As kids growing up in high school, we once took turns winning Miss “SCH” four years running. Of course, until her alopecia reared its head and she became nearly bald. I mentioned these invisible lace wigs. Oh well, balding was no big deal to her. Unfazed by medical hair loss, she aggressively unveiled her attitude.
Appearing at our alma mater’s rugby game, we flirted with the crowd till some kluts accidentally kicked the orb (or however you say it) into the bleachers. With quick reflexes she jumped up for it when her bandana fell off, revealing her shiny head. Totally upreturbed, she hurled the thing with a tremendous heave into the goal. That’s so her!
Of course, there’s two sides to every coin. The same summer at our semi-monhtly stroll to the art gallery, where she sat me down and revealed that she would rather do without hair out of anger. She dare not become dependent on lace wigs, even if she wanted one. And who would have thought the punk became beet pink in the face and begged that I dismiss the notion. I thought “oh, well.”
I thought about it all night. Later on, I asked her about settling the wig issue. Eventually we both arrived at an agreement: we’ll think of wigs as fashion, and we love fashion. I used my credit card, and it was worth it.
We had a ball wig shopping, floored by the options. We never imagined that women’s medical wigs could be so prevalent for so many women. These wigs for women’s hair loss made her so lovely. As for me, arranged a completely new ensemble to match my synthetic wig. Its become an inside joke, if you haven’t heard. Recently she thanked me for her wig, and disclosed that it invites new vibrance for many occasions. It’s a relief to realize my best friend rediscover the sassy, feminine girl I remember. And she’s still got the attitude.
