It’s sure to frighten your friends into a celebratory mood! Cover your table with a dark linen. Adorn the table with place cards made out of store bought mini sculls or gravestones. You will be astounded what you can find in your local stores: a lot of fun and inexpensive accoutrements. Scatter fall foliage on your table and dine by candlelight by lighting your area with candles and do-it-yourself jack-o-lanterns in several shapes and sizes. For a more different look to your pumpkins, you can spray paint the pumpkins black, gold or red.
Prepare the feeling of a ‘haunted mansion’ from the time your guests arrive. Both on the exterior and interior of your home, add bewitching particulars to spookify your party. Outdoors, have haunted organ music playing from the porch (or out a window). CDs are available online–look for music by “Midnight Syndicate” for some truly haunting melodies without cheesy canned screams. Use candlelight: try to get rid of electric lighting all over but maybe in the kitchen. Candelabras, tea lights, and pillar candles ought to be strategically placed in at least the front rooms.
